Welcome to Day 45 of The Turnaround’s 52 Days of Prayer!
Introduction
Today is Monday, the 28th day of October and today’s promise from God’s unshakeable Word has emboldened and strengthened the resolve of his people through the ages. Our focus is our inheritance from the Lord, an inheritance of peace, righteousness, security, and triumph over opposition.
Insight
More than a thousand years had passed since God originally issued this very promise to Abraham and the people of God. Abraham was the father of the church. He was also the father of the nations. When God called Abraham, he promised Abraham (and his people, the church):
“I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse” (Genesis 12:3).
It was God’s promise to the people of God spoken to Moses on Mt. Sinai:
“I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries”(Exodus 23:22).
It is the assurance Jesus gave to his disciples when he told them to pray boldly and expectantly that the Kingdom of God would be established on the earth and that the earth would be the place where his will would be obeyed.
It is the assurance Jesus gave to the church when he uttered his final words:
“All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.”
~Matthew 28:18
It is the promise made from the beginning of time when Jesus stood face to face with Satan in the Garden, pointed to Eve, and promised that the seed of the woman would crush the head of the serpent.
When the Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippian Church, he assured them of the same when he said, in the midst of difficult times:
“[Be] not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction” (Philippians 2:28).
The enemies of the church are specks on the windshield of history and history moves toward God’s promise, made through Micah and affirmed by the Apostle Paul, that the nations will bow the knee to Christ as all on earth confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
Turnaround Question
We need to assume the posture of children of the king whose enemy’s power has been vanquished. Can you pray with boldness that God will give you the confidence of one mantled as soldiers of the victorious king?
Prayer
Father, transform our minds, that we think the thoughts of Christ and fill us with your Word, the fire of your Spirit, and the boldness becoming of your servant. In Jesus name. Amen.
