Day 42: Built Together for God

October 25, 2024

Ephesians 2:19-22

"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone ; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit."

Devotional
Introduction

Welcome to day 42 of 52 days of prayer. Paul is writing this letter from prison to the Ephesians. He is instructing them on salvation and the attributes of living as believers and children of the king. The 2nd chapter specifically focuses on the gift of salvation, what it did for us, the authority that we have in the heavenly realm as a result of Christ’s sacrifice, and specifically for this devotional, the unity that it brings as we all join one heavenly family on earth in Christ as believers—-making no distinction between Jew or Gentile.

Insight

Paul is speaking identity over the Ephesians and telling them that in Christ there is no distinguishing of person based on prior religious tradition standing, birth of origin, or family status. We are all one in Christ. When we embrace that understanding and identity, it enables us to come together and set all of our differences aside and be built together as a unified dwelling place for the spirit of God.

Through unity and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, He makes His home in us as believers and we accomplish His will on this earth. With Him, we are a holy temple. We are the whole structure, all of us, in unity, together as one.

Turnaround Questions

What does it look like for the body to embrace the truth that we are all one in Christ? What do we as children of the King have to lay aside to walk in Unity?

How can you lay aside the thoughts and ideas that might be keeping you from walking in unity with others that make up the complete body of Christ?

Prayer

Father, today I ask that you would create in me a clean heart Ooh God and renew my spirit unto you so that I have your vision for the body becoming your home here on earth. That any idea, or judgment that I have against Your bride would be shifted, and a new Heavily perspective would replace it. Teach me how to walk in love and humility alongside the Heavenly family that you are building and fitting together perfectly as your home. Give me a sense of awe and wonder around the people you are bringing together to accomplish your will on earth as it is in Heaven, and teach me how to celebrate our unique differences that bring us all together and make us powerful in the building of your kingdom here on earth. Continue to reveal your Heavenly Identity over each one of us today, as we seek you.God by the spirit.
