Day 28: Be Strong, Fear Not

October 11, 2024

Isaiah 35:3-4,10

"Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you... and the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away."

Welcome to The Turnaround’s 52 Days of Prayer!

Introduction

Welcome to Day 28 of our 52 days of prayer. Life can feel overwhelming, leaving us with “weak hands and feeble knees.” We may find ourselves battling fear, doubt, and uncertainty, wondering how we can continue forward. Yet, amid our struggles, God’s Word offers powerful encouragement and hope and the promise of everlasting joy, reminding us that no matter what we face, God is always with us.

Insight

Isaiah 35 is a chapter filled with hope and restoration. Here the prophet Isaiah calls on God’s people to “Strengthen the weak hands, steady the shaking knees.” This is not just a physical  but a spiritual command. For those who are weary and fearful, it offers them encouragement and assurance in the face of their struggles.

The message “Be strong, do not fear” is a powerful reminder that God is aware of our fears and concerns. He knows the burdens we carry and the worries that weigh on our hearts. Yet, He does not leave us alone in our distress. This is a call to trust in God’s timing and His justice, even when we cannot see the immediate solution of our challenges.

I have personally experienced God’s faithfulness in moments of fear and uncertainty when I first arrived in the United States. God strengthened me and gave me courage. He provided for me supernaturally, He gave me wisdom to learn the language quickly, and He brought me into relationships with people who have become like family to me.

Verse 10 amplifies His message of hope: “the ransomed of the LORD will return, and come to Zion with singing, crowned with unending joy.” This verse paints a beautiful picture of restoration and redemption. We will experience joy and gladness that will replace sorrow and hopelessness. It is a promise of ultimate victory, where the trials of this world will give way to eternal joy in God’s presence. The Lord is with you!

Turnaround Question

1. What areas of your life feel weakened or burdened? How can you invite God’s strength into those areas today?
2. When fear grips your heart, how do you typically respond? What steps can you take to shift your focus from fear to faith in God’s promises?
3. How can you offer support and encouragement to someone else who might be struggling with fear or weakness?

Prayer

“Heavenly Father, we come before You, acknowledging our weaknesses and fears. We ask for Your strength to fill our hearts and minds, helping us to stand firm in faith despite the challenges we face. Remind us, Lord, that You are always with us, bringing justice, peace, and salvation. May we find comfort in the promise of everlasting joy and gladness, knowing that our sorrow and tears will one day be replaced with Your eternal presence. Help us to encourage those around us; strengthening the weak and uplifting the fearful. We trust in Your goodness and expect your miraculous power to work on our behalf and in our nation. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”
