Lord’s Prayer
Deliver Me from Evil
Paul Blair of Liberty Church, shares how biblical principles of trials and testing are found in both the old and new testaments. Sometimes, it is to build faith and other times is is a disciplinary response coming from the wisdom of God spoken into the very foundation of the universe.
God is the Good Shepherd that leads his flock. Our Good Shepherd would never lead us into evil. However, we will be tempted and we will face trials. Jesus knew this firsthand. He knew what it would take for us to resist temptations and persevere through trials. Here we see Jesus telling us to ask our Father to lead us through.
While we know it is not God’s character (see James 1:13) to lead us into temptation, we know He does allow it.
However, there is one thing we can be certain of, because 1 Corinthians tells us, God is faithful and will provide a way out of temptation.
Turnaround Questions
While we want God to keep us from temptations and trials, can you think of one you went through?
Looking back can you see the Hand of God on your situation?
Can you see something significant you learned about yourself or God? If not, ask God to show you.
