“Forgive Us Our Trespasses As We Forgive Those Who Trespass Against Us”
Jake Merrick shoots straight to the heart on this with confidence of our identity in Christ as well as our command to forgive.
Here Jesus is telling us when we forgive those who wrong us. We must let go of any resentment for we will reap what we sow.
Jake also reminds us that in Luke seven we see a woman kissing the feet of Jesus while anointing Him with expensive oil. Simon, a Pharisee, says to himself that if Jesus knew of her sins He would know that she was a notorious sinner , an outcast devoted to sin. It’s further on in Jesus’ conversation with Simon when Jesus eventually says these impactful words, “Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.” ‘
