Welcome to The Turnaround’s 52 Days of Prayer!
Introduction
In every relationship, there must be communication to build trust in knowing you can rely on the one you’ve been spending time with. The same is true as you spend time talking with Jesus and reading the Word of God. Before long, you will learn his voice just as the scripture says: “…the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow…” (John 10: 4-5). Knowing and trusting the voice of the Great Shepherd will bring obedience and blessings.
Insight
Obedience is a discipline of trust and doesn’t always make sense.
In Matthew, Jesus tells Peter “Come,” to meet him on the water. In Genesis, God tells Noah to build an ark. It’s estimated it took him 100 years of building and trusting. Some believe it had never rained before the flood; then it did. In Exodus, Moses raised his hands and the Red Sea split open and the Israelites crossed over from Egypt. Don’t try to justify the ask from God—learn to trust the ask, move in Obedience…you’ll be amazed!!!
Romans 8:6-7 “For to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God.”
I always told my children, “The Greatest Thing in life you can learn is To Know The Voice of God.” He guides, comforts, strengthens, blesses, and will never leave you. We need only remember this: Listen. Be Still. He’s speaking.
Turnaround
How do I know God is speaking? It’s from having a relationship and knowing from deep within. God will never fail. Talk to Him like you’re talking to your best friend: out loud, be honest. Talk to him about the little and the big things. Ask Him for direction. His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55: 8-9), He is interested in everything about us. As you begin to hear and see the evidence of His presence you’ll grow more, move in obedience, and trust Him in a greater way.
Prayer
Father God, Open our hearts, search us O Lord, that we may hear Your voice, obey Your plans, and speak Your word to the world around us. Help us O Lord in our weakness. I pray Your spirit would move upon us as we seek You, that we may hear Your Still Small Voice (I Kings 19:12-13).
In Jesus Name… Amen!
